Definicije se odnose na Ameri\u010dke standarde, no u principu &#8216;sla\u017eemo&#8217; se oko njih i ovdje.<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Zdrava hrana<\/strong> &#8211; prema ameri\u010dkoj definiciji iz 1974. godine, to su namirnice koje pridonose promociji fiziolo\u0161ke i psiholo\u0161ke ravnote\u017ee organizma kao i optimalnoj otpornosti na stres, infekciju, bolesti.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ljekovita hrana<\/strong> &#8211; su namirnice u \u010dvrstom ili teku\u0107em obliku koje su namijenjene za posebne svrhe (hrana za sondu, \u017elicu ili \u010da\u0161u) koja se daje bolesnicima, dojen\u010dadi ili djeci kod nasljednih pogre\u0161aka metabolizma, kod preosjetljivosti na laktozu i sli\u010dne pojave. Ovdje spadaju namirnice koje se daju radi redukcije tjelesne te\u017eine i preparati za sporta\u0161e.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funkcionalna hrana<\/strong> &#8211; sve one namirnice ili sirovine za njihovo dobivanje koje doprinose pojedinim funkcijama organizma jer sadr\u017ee neke od bioaktivnih komponenti (izoflavonin, betakaroten, starter kulture, oligosaharidi i sli\u010dne komponente). Prema novoj terminologiji takve su namirnice nazvane &#8220;nutraceuticals&#8221; odnosno, napola hrana &#8211; napola lijek. Tipi\u010dni funkcionalni proizvod je AB kultura.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suplement (dodatak prehrani)<\/strong> &#8211; je svaka ona aktivna tvar koja se uzima na usta sa svrhom oboga\u0107ivanja prehrane, prevencije bolesti, poja\u010davanja snage, pove\u0107avanja mi\u0161i\u0107ne mase, ali uz preduvjet da nije lijek. To je svaki proizvod (osim duhana) koji je namijenjen nadopuni prehrane, a sadr\u017ei jednu od sljede\u0107ih komponenti &#8211; vitamine, minerale, bilje ili ljekovito bilje, njihove koncentrate ili ekstrakte ili pak njihove smjese. Suplementi se prezentiraju tr\u017ei\u0161tu kao meke ili tvrde kapsule, pra\u0161ci i mogu se pakirati posebno ili dodavati konvencionalnoj hrani.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mediteranska hrana ili prehrana<\/strong> &#8211; pojam koji podrazumijeva tipi\u010dne namirnice iz mediteranskog bazena (maslinovo ulje, crno vino, bijeli luk, blitva, raj\u010dica, naran\u010da, limun, kiwi i sli\u010dno) kao i polu vegetarijanski na\u010din prehrane (lagana, malomasna hrana) dakle namirnice, koje prema dana\u0161njem stanju znanosti apsolutno doprinose zdravlju to jest, smanjuju krvni tlak, sni\u017eavaju kolesterol, pove\u0107avaju otpornost na stres i infekcije, te \u010dine organizam psihi\u010dki i fizi\u010dki stabilnijim.
